ENTERTAINMENT
Boating is entertainment, to be sure, but there's nothing wrong with adding more fun to your fun. Tastes vary, of course, and while some people are happy reading a book by oil-lamp, others want 200 channels of satellite TV on a giant plasma screen with surround-sound. Most of us fall somewhere in-between, and luckily these days listening to music, watching TV and movies, and even surfing the Internet on-board are well within reach for most boat owners.
You can certainly buy separate entertainment components, but with a decent notebook computer, you already have the core of an entertainment system that can rival those of most houses. You can watch TV and movies, store and listen to hundreds of hours of music, play games and get the latest news. Most importantly, you can do all of these things with the very same computer you use to navigate, so it's perfectly suited for the space constraints of most boats. There's no need anymore to store CD's, video tapes, bulky TV's or other equipment. And if you want, you can even use your laptop to run that giant widescreen with the surround sound!
